Kwankwaso Is Sure Nigeria's Unity Will Reamain Intact
Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, expressed confidence that all the attempts made by anyone to break unity in the country would fail. According to The Nation, the politician made the claim on November 1, while briefing journalists in Kano. He lamented over the fact that some individuals meant to divide Nigeria based on religion and ethnicity adding however that such moves would never succeed. Kwankwaso, who last week declared to run for presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also promised to handle security in the country if voted for in 2015. The governor reinstated his commitment to setting peace in Nigeria, which he said would be his first priority as the President. He was quoted saying by The NAN: “My major concern if elected as president of this country is to tackle the current insecurity and ensure economic development in the country.” He added that Kano State government donated food to those displaced by Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East and said that they would soon send out more relief materials to people hit by the tragedy. Regarding the recent reconciliation meeting of President Goodluck Jonathan and Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Kwankwaso said he approved of the move. “The Emir of Kano told me he was going to Abuja for meeting with President Jonathan and I gave him approval to go. The Emir, after their meeting with the President, also briefed me on what happened there. I will be very happy if Villa will be inviting Kano people for reconciliation.”
